Redundancy

We understand that this is a stressful time for both the employer and the employee(s) concerned, and we can help soften the redundancy process. All employees have certain rights in relation to redundancy and it is crucial that the process is followed to ensure the selection process is fair. Over 75% of our workforce has been with us over 10 years, which we are proud of, but recently, there was one guy that I was sure I could smell alcohol on. Then, it was brought to my attention by a manager that he could too, but we had no idea what to do. If both the manager and I could smell it then we were sure our customers would too.
We spoke to Rob who implemented a Drug and Alcohol policy that enabled us to test if we had a suspicion. Rob then came and tested a sample of our workforce and he was over the limit. The risk this put the rest of the workforce, our customers and the Company at was huge. We had no option other than to dismiss but we knew that a qualified person had done everything to the letter of the law.
